5 Gifts of Ministry

 

Ephesians 4: 11 – 13  “ And he gave some ( to be ) Apostles, some Prophets,

some Evangelists,  and some Pastors and Teachers. “

 

  1. APOSTOLIC :  one Called,  one Sent.

Acts  9:  15-16:  But the Lord said to Ananaias, “ Go!  This man is my chosen instrument to carry my name before the Gentiles and their kings and before the people of Israel.  I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.”

 

Local calling – to go out into the workplace, the beaches, the outer islands and plant.

 

Seek out good soil and sow.

 

Weakness – Focus only on what is at hand, not just what is out there – start local

 

Vineyard call:  Scatter seed wherever you are.  Some will land on good soil.

 

 

2.  PROPHETIC :   to Lead ,  to Strengthen

Jeremiah 1:17-19 – “ Get yourself ready! Stand up and say to them whatever I command you.  Do not be terrified by them, or I will terrify you before them.  Today I have made you a fortified city, an iron pillar and a bronze wall to stand against the whole land – against Kings of Judah, it’s officials, it’s priests and the people of the land.  They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you, declares the Lord”.

 

Local calling – to speak the word of the Lord boldly when the unction comes, building up the body of Christ here, one prophetic word at a time.

 

The voice of one crying alone in paradise

 

Weakness – hide behind the veil and weep quietly ( intercession )

 

Vineyard call:  Speak what the Lord gives you boldy and lead others into it

 

 

 

 

  1. EVANGELISTIC :  to Hear,  to Speak

 

Characters - Biblical – Philip,   Modern - Benny Hinn

 

Acts 8:  5-8 :  “ Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Christ there.  When the crowds heard Philip and saw the miraculous signs he did, they all paid close attention to what he said.  With shrieks, evil spirits came out of many, and many paralytics and cripples were healed.  So there was great joy in the city”

 

Local calling:  Witness whenever the opportunity presents itself. 

 

No fear – driven to witness

 

Weakness – Lack of follow up – “ blow in, blow up, blow out”

 

Vineyard call:  Reach out ( outreach ) one divine appointment at a time

 

 

  1. PASTORAL :  to Nurture,  to Protect

 

Characters – Biblical  - David    Modern - Fili

 

I Chronicles 11:1  “ Then all Israel gathered themselves to David unto Hebron, saying, Behold we are thy bone and thy flesh – and moreover in time past, even when Saul was king, you led us out and brought us in and the Lord they God said unto you “ You shall feed my people Israel and shall be ruler over all Israel.”  

 

Local calling :  To cover all those who need covering – personal or corporate 

 

Love the unloved

 

Weakness – Burn out and discouragement – always pouring into others

 

Vineyard call:  Recognize what Fili can and can’t do and supplement it 

 

 

  1. TEACHING :  to Learn,  to Instruct

 

Characters – Biblical Apollos,  Modern Charles Stanley

 

Acts 18: 24-28 – “ Meanwhile a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus.  He was a learned man, with a thorough knowledge of the scriptures. He had been instructed in the way of the Lord, and he spoke with great fervor and taught about Jesus accurately, though he knew only the baptism of John. He began to speak boldly in the synagogue.  When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they invited him to their home, and explained the way of God more adequately.  And when Apollos wanted to go to Achaia, the brothers encouraged him and wrote to the disciples there to welcome him.  On arriving he was a great help to those who by grace had believed.  For he vigorously refuted the Jews in public debate, proving from the scriptures that Jesus was the Christ.”

 

Local calling :  Spirit filled teaching of the word to those unlearned

 

Meat, not milk

 

Weakness -  Lack of intimacy due to much intellectual reasoning

 

Vineyard call:  Desire to learn, and then teach others all you have learned with love

 

 

  1. Ephesians 4: 14 – 15  “ Then we will no longer be like children, forever changing our minds about what we believe because someone has told us something different or because someone has cleverly lied to us and made the lie sound like truth.  Instead we will hold to the truth in love, becoming more and more in every way like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.”  – Grow up into Jesus.
